Q3 Academy Langley

Not a normal school

Q3 Academy Langley was the first brand-new secondary school for more than a decade in Sandwell, serving the Oldbury area. In the heart of the Black Country, Q3 Langley’s students reflect the wonderful multi-cultural mix of the West Midlands, teaching children aged 11-16 from a wide range of backgrounds.

In 2019, Ofsted rated Q3 Langley as a good school, praising in particular the systems of behaviour, pastoral support and safeguarding; inspectors wrote that Langley is ‘not a normal school’, something in which we take great pride. Our unique timetabling model ensures that students have access to a broad, enriching curriculum, with knowledge at its heart, whilst being provided with a great deal of time with dedicated staff, leading to a warm, purposeful culture, where everyone in the brilliant staff team works to the benefit of our students. Though we work to achieve the best outcomes and progress for our children (with our first set of examination results in 2022), we place the development of our children as people, and their character, as a central focus at Q3 Langley; our children want to work hard; they want to be nice people – we could not be more proud of them.

Mr Peter Lee

Head of School

I graduated from the University of Liverpool having read Modern History and Politics before embarking on a PGCE at the University of Warwick having joined the teaching profession initially via the Fast Track scheme.

Having worked in ten different settings across Birmingham and the Black Country I was fortunate to be appointed as Head of School designate of Q3 Academy Langley in March 2015. In September 2016 we were the first school in the country to be built in partnership between a Local Authority (Sandwell) and an Academy Trust (Q3 Academies Trust). It has been an exhilarating journey compounded by three delays in our build – and three different builders - but we finally become a fully-fledged school with all year groups in September 2020 and the school was finally completed, and handed over, in September 2021.  Over the years we have built a national reputation for innovation and are proud to host visitors from the length and breadth of the country! Q3 Langley are proud participants in the Midlands Knowledge Hub and also a host school for the DfE’s Exemplary Leadership Programme.
