Stand out, specialise and succeed in the creative industries at Walsall Studio School

Students at The Mercian Trust’s specialist studio school in Walsall are today celebrating record-breaking results.  Following a positive Ofsted Inspection earlier this year when Walsall Studio School was judged to be Good in all areas, students have achieved some of the best results since the school opened 12 years ago.

In the studio sixth form, students follow a specialist vocational programme equivalent to 3x A Levels.  With an average Distinction+ APS grade (General Applied) this year alongside nearly 40% of grades at Distinction* – the highest grade possible – students have achieved the grades they need to kickstart their careers in the creative industries. Students are looking forward to continued success in higher education at universities, specialist colleges and conservatoires and in high-quality employment and apprenticeships.

The government has recognised the creative industries as one of the priority sectors in the country’s industrial strategy and the West Midlands plan for growth. A studio school education demonstrates there are ways to standout, specialise and succeed in creative and performance industries.
