Q3 Academy Langley to become Department for Education Attendance and Behaviour Hub School

We are delighted to share the news that one of our Trust schools, Q3 Academy Langley in Sandwell, has been recognised by the Department for Education (DfE) for its outstanding practice. As a newly announced lead school for Attendance and Behaviour as part of the government’s RISE hub school programme, leaders from the school and our Trust will share their knowledge and experiences and offer practical mentoring support to schools across the West Midlands for the benefit of thousands of students.

Q3 Academy Langley has become recognised nationally as a tremendously successful school since opening its doors nearly a decade ago. Students are given the support they need to achieve amazing things, and the schools first-class approach to behaviour and attendance have been recognised by the DfE as being areas of significant strength. At Q3 Academy Langley students attend school regularly and punctually and their conduct in school is calm, happy and purposeful leading to excellent outcomes for all.

Headteacher at Q3 Academy Langley, Peter Lee, said,

All of us at Q3 Academy Langley are thrilled to have been selected as a DfE RISE Attendance and Behaviour Lead school. We look forward to working with the DfE and schools across the West Midlands to improve attendance and behaviour and create calm and supportive school environments that enable children to achieve and to thrive. We are proud of our track record since opening in 2016. We have pioneered innovative work to drive culture including our Family Lunch, amongst other strategies, which we are looking forward to sharing with others to increase and maintain the very best attendance and behaviour in other schools. It’s a privilege to do our bit as a lead school as we are confident that we have much to offer the sector.

CEO of The Mercian Trust, Dan Parkes, said,

This recognition is wonderful news, particularly for everyone who has invested their time, energy and expertise into establishing Q3 Academy Langley as one of the best schools in the country leading for equity and excellence. We are so proud of the positive school culture that leaders have created over the past decade that embodies our Trust social mobility mission to increase opportunities and improve outcomes. We look forward to forging new relationships with schools and playing our part to support those working hard to improve the school experiences of children and young people in our region.
